About Amtgard & Nine Blades

Amtgard is a medieval fantasy combat sport and LARP (Live Action Role-Playing game) where participants physically portray their characters and engage in combat using foam-padded weapons.

Founded in 1983, Amtgard has grown to become one of the largest LARP organizations in North America with thousands of active players across more than 300 active chapters (called "parks").

Unlike many theatrical LARPs, Amtgard focuses on:

• Safe, competitive combat with foam weapons
• Medieval/fantasy roleplay and character development
• Arts and sciences (crafting, garb making, etc.)
• Service to the community and organization

The Kingdom of the Nine Blades is a Canadian Kingdom of Amtgard.

Our kingdom has grown to include 8 active parks and hundreds of players who gather regularly for:

• Weekly park days with combat, games, and socializing
• Larger weekend events with camping, tournaments, and feasts
• Kingdom-level gatherings where all chapters come together
• Arts and sciences competitions and workshops

Our community is welcoming to players of all backgrounds, ages (14+), and experience levels. Whether you're interested in combat, roleplay, crafting, or just making new friends, there's a place for you in the Nine Blades.

Getting started with Amtgard is easy! Here's what you need to know:

• Equipment: For your first visit, you don't need any special equipment. We have loaner weapons and gear for newcomers.
• Classes: Players can choose from various character classes like Warrior, Healer, Wizard, Scout, Assassin, and more, each with unique abilities.
• Combat: Our combat system uses foam-padded weapons and is based on a hit-location system. It's safe, active, and exciting!
• Garb: Medieval or fantasy clothing is encouraged but not required for your first few visits.
• Cost: Amtgard is free to try! There are no mandatory fees to participate in weekly park days.

The best way to learn is to show up at one of our park days. Our experienced players will guide you through your first day and help you get started.
